NASSAU COUNTY, FL – The man accused of killing Nassau County MP Joshua Moyers, who was shot dead during a traffic stop, was held in the Nassau County jail and detention center on Thursday evening.
According to the detention center’s website, Patrick McDowell was incarcerated just after 6:30 p.m. He was hospitalized after his arrest for treatment of gunshot wounds and dog bites.
McDowell faces a charge of murder and aggravated bodily harm on a police dog. He was taken into custody Tuesday at a sports complex west of Callahan after a multi-day manhunt that began after the shooting on Friday.
According to Sheriff Bill Leeper, a SWAT and K-9 team tracked down McDowell on Tuesday, surrounding the concession stand and bathroom at the Kirsten Higginbotham sports complex near Ball Park Road, and McDowell finally came out of the bathroom. and surrendered.
Law enforcement officers continued their search for any further evidence in the Moyers murder investigation on Thursday. Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper said a gun was found during the search, but it was not immediately clear whether it was linked to Moyers’ death.
