Puppy Plunge returns to the YMCA – Beaufort, SC The Island News

From staff reports

Well behaved dogs of all breeds and sizes are welcome at the YMCA Puppy Plunge starting October 23, 2021 – 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. – at the Y Outdoor Pool at 1801 Richmond Avenue, Port Royal.

The cost is $ 10 per puppy and all proceeds go to the Y’s Learn to Swim program, which teaches local youth and adults to swim at a reduced cost or for free.

“Since the outdoor pool will be closed to humans, it’s time to let the dogs out,” YMCA aquatic director Perri Flaherty said in a statement. “We look forward to having as many puppies as possible splashing, swimming and playing in our secure outdoor pool. Of course, we also hope to raise as much money as possible to complete the swimming lessons, so that everyone brings your puppies to the Y.

The additional dates for the Puppy Plunge are November 20 and December 18, 2021 and January 29, February 26 and March 26, 2022. Owners will be required to sign a waiver before entering the closed outdoor pool (use the side entrance door ), must be present with their puppies at all times, and humans are not allowed to swim in the Puppy Plunge.

The YMCA asks that animals be up to date with all their vaccinations. This event is weather dependent, so check out YMCA social media or call the Y front desk at 843-522-9622 in the morning of Puppy Plunge to check for any status updates.
